Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also plays music. She was also the first and youngest woman to win a British House of Commons Award. Anoushka shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is the student and sister of Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing between London and New Delhi. The first time she performed was on stage in New Delhi at the tender 13 years old. Later she moved into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. When she was in her teens, she performed at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD as well as recorded with George Harrison. In recognition of being an outstanding musician in the field of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
