Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also plays music. She was also the first and youngest woman to win a British House of Commons Award. Anoushka shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is the student and sister of Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing between London and New Delhi. The first time she performed was on stage in New Delhi at the tender 13 years old. Later she moved into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha continues to have a bright performing and recording careers, even though she's young. Since a while, she regularly performs with her father. She released her debut album in 1998. released Anourag as her first album as a solo artist. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. Alongside performing at many of the biggest venues, she also has a long stage career. Anoushka Shakar's talents are not just limited to music. She published Bapi The Love of My Life in the year 2002. This is a picture biographical work that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. in 2003 she was a part as a character in Dance Like a Man as an actress and Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka was raised in England however, she spent the majority of her childhood split between London and Delhi. Then she moved to California and attended high school. At the age of 9, she started studying music with her father. Her first performance with the Sitar was in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi just four years later. Anoushka, who accompanied her father during his world tour, gained a remarkable amount of experience. When she was in her teens, she performed at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD as well as recorded with George Harrison. In recognition of being an outstanding musician in the field of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
